SAE J1321 FUEL ECONOMY TESTING
Test Objective:
Quantification of technology impact fully incorporating and
controlling variables. Used for on road vehicles.
Characteristics:
Incorporates and controls variables on a vehicle; results in a +/-1%
margin of error. Utilizes Society of Automotive Engineers Type II
Test Protocol.
Fortune 1000 Company – Eco-Edge
assisted in validating a 10.5% reduction in fuel consumption
on a CAT C7 engine from use of Catalytic Aerosol Injection™. Company
is outfitting diesel vehicles in fleet with Catalytic Aerosol
Injection™ for fuel savings and emissions reduction.
Mixer & Aggregate Fleet –
Eco-Edge assisted in validating an 11.3% reduction in fuel
consumption on a Cummins ISM engine from use of Catalytic
Aerosol Injection™. Company has had more than 220 vehicles,
generators and off road equipment using Catalytic Aerosol Injection™ for several years.
STATIONARY TESTING
Test Objective:
Quantification of technology impact with controlled variables. Used
for on or off road vehicles/equipment.
Characteristics: Removes variables from impacting test; results
in a +/-3% margin of error. Tends to produce more conservative
results. Utilizes proprietary protocol and testing equipment.
Dairy/Agriculture Fleet – Eco-Edge assisted in
validating an 8.0% reduction in fuel consumption on a
John Deere 624 Front Loader from use of Catalytic Aerosol
Injection™. Company has been using Catalytic Aerosol Injection™ for
more than 2 years on all diesel trucks and off road equipment.
Hauling & Aggregate Fleet –
Eco-Edge assisted in validating an 8.0% reduction in fuel
consumption on a CAT 980G Loader with a 3406 engine from use
of Catalytic Aerosol Injection™, as well as a material reduction in
exhaust temperature. Company has been using Catalytic Aerosol
Injection™ for several years on its generators and off road
equipment, and has added its on road dirt hauling truck fleet.
OPERATIONS TESTING
Test Objective:
Validation, not quantification, of technology impact in an operating
setting with limited control on variables. Used for on or off road
vehicles/equipment.
Characteristics:
Little or no control on environment; tends to have extremely
high variability and requires substantial analysis to evaluate
impact of variables on results.
Scrap/Waste Hauling Fleet –
Eco-Edge helped verify that trucks traveling with consistent routes
and loads were seeing substantial savings, validating on road truck
standard of approximately 10% fuel savings generated by Catalytic
Aerosol Injection™. Fleet has been using Catalytic Aerosol
Injection™ for more than 3 years.
Grocery Tractor Trailer Fleet –
Eco-Edge conducted a stationary test demonstrating a 13.9% reduction
on a Detroit Diesel 60 Series engine using Catalytic Aerosol
Injection™. A 9 month operating test across 15 vehicles verified in
an uncontrolled environment that Catalytic Aerosol Injection™: 1)
did produce measurable fuel savings on a consistent basis; 2) caused
no harm to the vehicles; 3) reduced opacity by an average of 32%;
and 4) produced noticeably cleaner exhaust manifolds. Company is
implementing Catalytic Aerosol Injection™ fleet wide.
EMISSIONS TESTING
International Cement & Aggregate Company
– Eco-Edge installed Catalytic Aerosol Injection™ on a CAT 3516
generator operating a crusher. Independent emissions testing showed
a resulting 22% reduction in NOx, along with more than 40%
reductions in both VOCs and SOCs. Company has been able to
expand permitted operating hours at the site by approximately 25%
due to the NOx decrease, resulting in increased profitability, and
still reducing their overall environmental footprint.
OIL DRAIN INTERVALS
Mixer & Aggregate Fleet –
Eco-Edge has assisted company in evaluating HEPO bypass oil
filtration using oil analysis. Results show that their oil
drain intervals have been extended from 450 hours to 1,350 hours.
